The 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) test is used to screen for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) and may be used in conjunction with other tests to diagnose and track CAH. In the United States, the 17-OHP test is used as part of newborn screening to diagnose CAH caused by a lack of 21-hydroxylase.
